Our Pet Euthanasia Memorial

A Dog’s Prayer

Thank you, my beloved friend, for your kind treatment. No heart in all the world is more grateful for your kindness than the loving heart of me.

Your voice is the world’s sweetest music, as you know by the fierce wagging of my tail when your footstep falls upon my waiting ear. I am always near and hope you will never cease talking to me for I will always be listening.

You kept me safe in a cold and bitter world. There is no greater glory than the privilege of sitting at your feet keeping you company.

You kept my pan filled with fresh water though I could not tell you that I was thirsty. You fed me clean food to keep me well to romp and play, to walk by your side and always do your bidding, willing and able to protect you with my life had there ever been a need.

And, my friend, now that I no longer enjoy good health, and we know that I am dying, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see that my trusting life is taken gently. I shall leave this earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands.

To Those I Love and Those Who Love Me

When I am gone, Release me, Let me go - I have so many things to see and do. You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears, Be thankful for our beautiful years.

I gave to you my love, You can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It's only for a time that we must part so bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on. So if you need me, call, and I will come. Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near and if you listen with your heart, you'll hear all my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and say:

"Welcome Home"
